LANSING, Mich. – The Lindsey Wilson archery team competed on the first day of Collegiate Target Nationals on Friday earning a pair of bronze medals at the Hope Sports Complex.
Friday consisted of individual qualification rounds and mixed team rounds through the bronze medal matches.
T Sanchez finished seventh in men's recurve with a score of 621 (310-311) with 14 10s.
Tanner Boyd finished 16th with a 596 (298-298) while
Daniel Clayton qualified 23rd with a score of 560 (267-293).
In women's recurve,
Layla Blevins posted the best Blue Raider qualifying score with a 486 (248-238) to be 35th.
Micah Bettersworth qualified 39th with a score of 452 (235-217).
Sophia Hunziger finished 22nd in women's compound with a score of 663 (333-330).
Austin Taylor carded the fourth-best score in men's compound with a 698 (349-349) and 52 10s.
Turner Nevitt also recorded a top-10 score with a 693 (350-343) and 47 10s to be ranked 10th.
Parker Braddock qualified 15th with a score of 689 (348-341) while Seth Pipes was 23rd with a 683 (344-339).
Tyler Tolle and
TJ Ramsey earned spots in the top 10 in men's barebow. Tolle carded a 542 (277-265) to place seventh while Ramsey was right behind with a 531 (267-264).
Dylan Langley finished with a 503 (257-246) to finish 13th.
Morgan Wilson tallied the fourth-best score in women's barebow with a 524 (273-251).
Maria Sampson finished 13th with a score of 478 (254-224) while
Sarah McCarthy totaled a 452 (243-209) to place 18th.
Bronson Ormes had the best Lindsey Wilson score in men's fixed pins with a 609, finishing 35th.
Gus Burtts finished with a 564 while
Wyatt Burtts carded a 560. In women's fixed pins,
Audrey Mills finished 17th with a 630 while
Emma Kist was 19th with a 627.
In the mixed team rounds, the Blue Raiders earned a pair of bronze medals. Tolle and Wilson earned bronze in mixed barebow. The duo defeated James Madison (Va.) 6-0 in the second round and advanced to the semifinals with a 5-4 victory over Cumberland (Ky.). Tolle and Wilson were defeated by Rio Grande (Ohio) 5-3 before defeating California 5-1 in the third-place match.
Gus Burtts and Mills earned bronze in mixed fixed pins. They defeated Wabash Valley College (Ill.) 140-132 in the second round and Michigan State 142-121 in the quarterfinals. Burtts and Mills were defeated by Cumberlands 148-140 in the semifinals. The duo then defeated Rio Grande 129-127 to earn bronze.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday for the individual elimination rounds with the team rounds to follow at the Hope Sports Complex.
