BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament Saturday at the Warren County Tennis Facility.
Jose Tobar and
Ian Arresse took home gold in the third doubles flight. The duo started the tournament with a 6-4 victory over Georgetown's (Ky.) Rex Roof and Luke Curry. In the finals, they defeated Cumberlands' (Ky.) Thibaud Vivier and Sampras Rakotondrainibe 6-4.
Raul Safont and
Lev Sholosh reached the semifinals in the first doubles flight. They defeated Georgetown's Leo Schirmer and Alex Stragier 6-3. The duo was defeated by Cumberlands' Gabriele Solda and Darius Kuster in the semifinals.
Facundo Grasso and
Mateo Larrea made it to the semifinals in the second doubles flight. In the first round, they defeated Kazuma Tani and Manuel Fernandez Guede from Cumberlands 6-4. Grasso and Larrera fell in the semifinals to Cumberland's (Tenn.) Arne Sohmer and Arthur Fernandez 4-6.
Grasso reached the finals of the first single flight. He started with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Cumberland's Elisey Kalashnikov. In the semifinals, he defeated Freed-Hardeman's (Tenn.) Benjamin Ganem 6-3, 6-1 before falling 6-2, 4-6, 10-12 to Cumberlands' Maxence Petit.
Larrera took home gold in the second singles flight. He defeated Solda from 7-6 (6-3), 6-2, and Sohmer 6-3, 6-1. In the finals, he defeated Vivier 6-3, 6-0. Tobar lost his first match to Jacopo Cianfarini from Cumberlands and defeated Freed-Hardeman's Dev Prakash 6-3, 6-4.
Sholosh won gold in the third singles flight. He defeated Mohamed Bouhlel of Cumberland 7-6 (6-4), 6-2, and Cumberland's Darius Kuster 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. Sholosh then defeated Fernandez 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 in the finals.
Adrian Jimenez made it to the semifinals in the fifth flight. He defeated Georgetown's Chris Gray 6-0, 6-0 in the first round. Jimenez then fell 7-5, 7-5 to Cumberlands' Finn Rieber.
The Blue Raiders now begin preparations for the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament, September 25-28, at the Lackey Tennis Center in Georgetown, Kentucky.
