COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider men's swimming team built itself a strong lead on day one of the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy on Friday.
Lindsey Wilson coasted to four victories and 10 top-three finishes to create a 192-point buffer ahead of Shawnee State (Ohio) in second place.
Senior
Max van Schagen anchored both of the Blue Raiders winning relays while placing second in the 50-yard freestyle by 0.01 seconds ahead of teammate
Lorenz Hof in third.
Azahn Hicks,
Clinton Eales, and Hof joined van Schagen in the first event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay. Then,
Dario Soria,
Dan Spinola, and
Sirhaan Mia helped make up the 400-yard medley relay at the end of the session.
Lindsey Wilson's top performance of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle.
Sergio Ybarra – 4:41.49 – and
Oliver Greaves – 4:50.86 – placed one-two, respectively, each turning in NAIA provisional standard times.
Jose Rivas clinched the Blue Raiders last individual win of the session in the 200-yard individual medley. His time of 1:59.99 put him just ahead of
Adam Lamhiti – 2:03.26, – who finished second.
Lindsey Wilson returns for day two of its season-opener at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, September 27.
