COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team wrapped up a season-opening victory on Saturday in the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy.
The Blue Raiders ended the weekend with 31 total top-three finishes, including five wins over the second and third sessions.
Among the Blue Raiders five victories, sophomore
Sergio Ybarra contributed two in the 400-yard individual medley and the 1,650-yard freestyle. His win in the mile came by a commanding 44.72-second margin. Both of Ybarra's triumphs met NAIA provisional standards.
Lorenz Hof led a strong showing by Lindsey Wilson in the 200-yard freestyle as the home team swept the top-three places. Hof's provisional mark of 1:44.79 led Ybarra in second place and
Akram Nejjar in third.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Dan Spinola and
Clinton Eales ended one-two, in that order. Spinola clocked in with an NAIA provisional time of 58.98 seconds, while Eales came 0.11 seconds shy of the provisional standard of his own. The duo swapped positions in the 200-yard breaststroke, followed by
Adam Lamhiti in third place.
Oliver Greaves secured a pair of second-place finishes in the 400-yard individual medley and 1,650-yard freestyle,
Sirhaan Mia earned a runner-up spot in the 100-yard butterfly – 0.77 seconds off a NAIA provisional time, -- and
Jose Rivas and Mia finished second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly.
Lindsey Wilson is home, again, at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, October 18 to challenge Cumberlands (Ky.) in a Mid-South showdown.
