Tate Rice has been selected as the Mid-South Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Rice, of Manchester, Kentucky, earns his first career weekly honor after completing 85 percent of his passes (17-of-20) for 249 yards with four touchdowns in the Blue Raiders' 37-3 victory over Ave Maria (Fla.).
The sophomore connected with four different receivers for each of his touchdowns with a long of 75 yards. Rice's first touchdown came at the end of the first quarter on an 18-yard pass to
Khia Sherrard. His second touchdown of the first half was thrown to
Davontaye Saunders for 75 yards. Rice connected with
Seth Phillips for eight yards for his third touchdown and
Taborie Reed for five yards for the fourth. He ended his night completing 10 of his last 11 passes for 107 yards,
This marks the second straight week a Blue Raider has earned MSC Offensive Player of the Week honors after Sherrard earned the award on September 1.
Rice and the Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday with a matchup against No. 8 St. Thomas (Fla.) at 3 p.m. CT at Parnell Family Stadium.
