COLUMBIA, Ky. - After 55 days away from competition, the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams are back hosting Tennessee Southern on Saturday, January 17 at the Holloway Natatorium.
The Blue Raiders last hit the pool November 20-22 at the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College (Ohio). There, the men hit 39 NAIA national cuts, including one "A" standard, while the women logged 31 national cuts, four of which meeting "A" standards.
Kirsten de Goede excelled in the short-distance freestyle events with her marks catapulting her to the top of the NAIA leaderboard in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. The senior's third "A" time in the 200 freestyle actively ranks second in the nation, trailing the fastest time by 0.05 seconds.
Natalia Gorska, who also secured an "A" standard in the 50 freestyle in November, sits with the third-quickest time in event.
On the men's side,
Sergio Ybarra clocked the nation's fourth-fastest time in the 1,650 freestyle. He and
Ethan Butler each reside inside the top-10 for the mile and the 500-yard freestyle.
Tennessee Southern competed most recently at Campbellsville (Ky.) on December 5. Prior to that, however, the Firehawks were in Marietta, Georgia for the Small College Championship Cup, November 20-22.
Hamza Asif recorded NAIA "B" cuts in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and in the 100 breaststroke.
