MADISONVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson archery team finished runner-up at the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Western Kentucky Archery Complex.
The Blue Raiders tallied 134 points and 17 podium finishes over the three-day event. Lindsey Wilson added six podium finishes in the individual shootdowns on Sunday. Cumberlands (Ky.) captured the team championship with 207 points while Pikeville (Ky.) was third with 102 point.
Anastacia Godman captured a gold medal in women's barebow. Godman defeated Megan Wallace of Campbellsville 7-3 in the first round. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Union Commonwealth's Baylee McQueen 6-5. Godman advanced to the finals with a 7-3 victory over Kennedy Sumpter of Cumberlands. She captured gold with a 6-4 victory over Isabell Lehsten of Cumberlands.
Lindsey Wilson earned silver, bronze, and a fourth-place finish in men's recurve.
AJ Shagool finished runner-up. Shagool defeated Pikeville's Kole Whalen 6-2 in the quarterfinals. He punched his ticket to the finals with a 7-3 victory over teammate
Mac Collins. Shagool was defeated by Pikeville's Jack Dinapoli 6-5 in the finals.
Collins earned a bronze medal in men's recurve. He defeated Pikeville's Rylan Brooks in the quarterfinals 6-0 before falling to Shagool. In the third-place match, Collins defeated teammate
Zach Jackson to earn bronze. Jackson advanced to the semifinals with a 6-0 victory over Cumberlands' Keaton Starks. He was then defeated by Dinapoli 6-0 in the semifinals.
Micah Bettersworth earned bronze in women's recurve. Bettersworth defeated Pikeville's Anna Howard in the first round and Midway's (Ky.) Hannah Welts in the quarterfinals. She fell in the semifinals to Pikeville's Olivia Hale 7-3. Bettersworth earned bronze with a 6-4 victory over Lidia Quezada of Cumberlands.
Keegan Benton earned bronze in men's barebow. He defeated Ashton Moss of Campbellsville 6-0 in the first round before defeating Union Commonwealth's (Ky.) John Stephens 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Benton was defeated by Kyle Coffey of Union Commonwealth in the semifinals. He earned bronze with a 7-1 victory over Zach Matthews of Cumberlands.
Gus Burtts earned bronze in men's fixed pins. Burtts defeated Sam Garey of Pikeville 150-145 in the first round. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Jackson Ratajczak of Cumberlands 148-146. Burtts was defeated by Cumberlands' Joesph West in the semifinals before defeating Aiden Woodie of Cumberlands 149-148 to earn bronze.
The Blue Raiders return to action for USA Archery Indoor Nationals on January 30 in Owensboro, Kentucky.
