COLUMBIA, Ky. - In their final showing in the pool before the Mid-South Conference Championships, the Blue Raider men's swimming team collected 13 victories in the Highway 55 Last Chance Invitational at the Holloway Natatorium.
Sergio Ybarra led Lindsey Wilson with three individual wins, each of which came with NAIA national provisional cuts. The sophomore won the 200 butterfly -- 1:56.57, -- 400 individual medley -- 4:06.90, -- and the 500 freestyle -- 4:35.81.
Dan Spinola swept the breaststroke events as he clocked in 0.10 seconds off a national cut in the 100-yard race.
Jose Rivas claimed the 100-yard individual medley at 54.69 seconds, the second-quickest time in program history.
Additional winner for the Blue Raiders on Friday included
Clinton Eales in the 100 freestyle,
Ethan Butler in the 200 individual medley,
Dario Soria in the 200 backstroke,
Max van Schagen in the 50 freestyle, and
Lorenz Hof in the 100 freestyle.
Lindsey Wilson topped both relays on the day. Van Schagen, Soria, Rivas, and Hof hit the wall first to win the 400 freestyle. Then, to open the second session, Hof, Spinola, Soria, and van Schagen took the 200 medley.
Next up for the Blue Raiders is the Mid-South Conference Championships, February 5-7 at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.
