WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The No. 17-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling team was defeated by No. 9 Cumberlands (Ky.) 22-16 in a Mid-South Conference dual on Wednesday evening at the UC Volleyball Gym.

The Blue Raiders won a total of four matches on Wednesday evening. Cumberlands opened the match with a major decision at 125 pounds to take a 4-0 lead. Alex Tabor (No. 18 at 133) gave the Blue Raiders a 6-4 lead with a pin of Collin Tucker in the final minute. Adrian Ayala (No. 4 at 141) earned a 4-2 decision over Eli Peyton (No. 17 at 141), increasing the Lindsey Wilson lead to 9-4. Cumberlands then rattled off four straight victories at 149, 157, 165, and 174 to take a 17-9 lead.

Cory Cannan (No. 12 at 184) cut the Blue Raider deficit in half with a 9-1 major decision over Lane Kiser. Jostyn Cardenas-Zayas picked up a 4-2 decision over Jackson Shramek at 197, cutting the Patriots' lead to 17-16. With the match on the line, Miguel Perez (No. 19 at 285) faced off against Austin Silva (No. 9 at 285). Silva clinched the victory for the Patriots with a 21-1 tech fall.


 The Blue Raiders close out their regular season on Tuesday, February 3, at No. 7 Campbellsville (Ky.)  at 6 p.m. CT at the Campbellsville Wrestling Facility.
