TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson track and field program produced several strong performances at the Indiana State University Open on Saturday at the Indoor Track & Field Facility. The men's team finished fourth out of 11 teams, while the women's team placed seventh.
Daniel Otibo opened the day with a solid showing in the 60-meter prelims, running 6.94 to qualify for the finals. He later placed seventh in the finals with a time of 7.08.
In the 200 meters,
D'Antonio Warren won the event in 21.97 to set a new meet record, while Otibo followed in second at 22.45 as both contributed big points for the Blue Raiders.
In the 400 meters,
Royce Mentor IV led the field with a time of 50.44 to claim first place.
In the high jump, freshman
Janer Caicedo Campaz cleared 1.98 meters to finish third overall.
On the women's side, Elaina Holliday qualified for the 60-meter finals after running 7.98 in prelims before placing ninth in the final at 8.02.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Chenessa Davis advanced to the finals with a time of 8.76 which marks as a NAIA "B" standard, which currently ranks No. 19 in the NAIA. She went on to finish sixth in the final with a mark of 8.85. Ta'Shya Cramer ran 59.37 in the 400 meters to place sixth overall.
In the field events,
Rosemond Owusu had a strong day, clearing 1.67 meters in the high jump to hit the NAIA "B" standard and finish fourth. She also took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.40 meters. Holliday added an eighth-place finish in the long jump at 5.17 meters.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, set for March 5–7 in Gainesville, Florida.
