DANVILLE, Ky. - Through one day of Mid-South Conference championship competition, Lindsey Wilson men's swimming is in second place, trailing only Cumberlands (Ky.) inside Champions Hall at Centre College.
The Blue Raiders' tallied 358 points, starting with the 200 freestyle relay team of
Lorenz Hof,
Jose Rivas,
Clinton Eales, and
Max van Schagen hitting the wall second at 1:22.81, an NAIA "A"-standard and program record by 0.92 seconds.
Lindsey Wilson placed three swimmers inside the top-five of the 500 freestyle, including all-conference finishers
Sergio Ybarra -- 4:30.95 -- and
Ethan Butler -- 4:34.94 -- in second and third, respectively. It is Ybarra's second career all-conference accolade in the event and Butler's first.
Oliver Greaves came in fifth place at 4:41.64.
Jose Rivas clinched his second all-conference finish in the 200 individual medley, touching the wall third at 1:52.68. The senior last earned all-conference honors in the race in 2023 when he placed second.
In the 50 freestyle, van Schagen -- 20.68, -- Eales -- 20.98, -- and
Azahn Hicks -- 21.11 -- each earned spots within the top-eight, placing fourth, seventh, and eighth, in that order.
The 400 medley relay squad of Hof, Eales, van Schagen, and
Sirhaan Mia closed out the session for Lindsey Wilson by finishing second at 3:25.78.
The second day of swimming opens at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, February 6 with preliminary heats. The line-up includes the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, plus the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.
