DANVILLE, Ky. - Lindsey Wilson women's swimming sits in third place following day one of the Mid-South Conference swimming and diving championships at Centre College.
The Blue Raiders, led by four all-conference finishes, compiled 150 points, trailing Indiana Wesleyan in second place by 42 points. Cumberlands (Ky.) holds the lead with 299 points.
Lindsey Wilson opened the finals session in the 200 freestyle relay as the quartet of
Ela Cippico,
Emma Verkuijl,
Hannah Woyscheszik, and
Natalia Gorska clocked an NAIA "A"-standard time of 1:38.03 to earn third place.
Then, in the 500 freestyle,
Nathalie Medina collected her second consecutive runner-up effort to garner all-conference status. Her final time -- 5:11.87 -- met provisional standards, as did Woyscheszik's mark of 5:19.94 in fifth place.
Gorska claimed her second all-conference award of the meet in the 50 freestyle, coming just 0.02 off first but still locking down a national cut.
The 400 medley relay team of Woyscheszik, Verkuijl, Gorska, and
Sara Motyl wrapped up the evening with a third-place showing and "A"-cut time of 3:56.53.
Day two of the Mid-South Conference championships opens with preliminary rounds at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, February 6, and features the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, as well as the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.
