DANVILLE, Ky. - Natalia Gorska claimed her first career individual gold medal as Lindsey Wilson women's swimming held steady in third place after day two of the Mid-South Conference swimming and diving championships at Centre College.
Gorska, who had earned All-Conference honors in each of her two previous tries in the 100 backstroke, finally broke through at 56.60 seconds. The mark is a personal-best for the junior and meets NAIA "A" standards.
Her teammate Hannah Woyshescik followed close behind in third place to collect her first career individual All-Conference medal.
Sara Motyl swam a personal-best time of 1:05.02 to place third in the 100 breaststroke. The senior becomes a four-time All-Conference performer in the event.
The Blue Raiders' two relays of the evening each logged runner-up efforts. Woyscheszik, Motyl, Gorska, and
Emma Verkuijl hit 1:47.62 to end up third in the 200 medley.
Then, in the evening finale, Lindsey Wilson entered the last leg of the 800 freestyle relay in fourth place, but
Nathalie Medina anchored the Blue Raiders into All-Conference contention after being set up by Woyscheszik, Verkuijl, and Gorska. The quartet's final time went down as 8:02.82.
The final day of championship competition opens at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday, February 7 with preliminary heats, and includes the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1,650 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay.
