COLUMBUS, Ga. - Four one-run games, three comebacks, two extra-inning decisions, and as the early morning dust settled at the South Commons Softball Complex, Lindsey Wilson was the last one standing.
Behind late heroics from
Natalie Wandrie, the Blue Raiders defeated (RV) Mobile (Ala.) 2-1 to win their sixth straight and the NFCA-NAIA Leadoff Classic.
Kayden Murray garnered her third complete-game victory of the weekend as the junior worked seven innings, gave up one earned run on six hits, and punched out five on strikes.
The Rams notched their lone run of the contest in the top half of the second inning on a sacrifice flyout. From there, the Blue Raider defense did not allow another Mobile runner to advance past second base.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Wandrie got ahold of a 1-1 pitch to deep center field. The ball missed the outreached glove of the Rams' outfielder and fell beyond the fence for Wandrie's third home run of the season.
Then, two innings later,
Kaiden Rodgers sunk a two-out single to shallow left field. Wandrie came up next and lifted an opposite-field triple to the right field wall, bringing Rodgers around to push Lindsey Wilson in front.
Mobile's last chance in the top of the seventh inning went down in order, as the Rams grounded out to Rodgers at first base, bunted unsuccessfully to Murray in the circle, before falling on strikes for the final out.
Lindsey Wilson is due back on the field next weekend, March 6-8, in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the 2026 Gulf Shores Invitational.
