COLUMBIA, Ky.- The No. 3-seeded Blue Raider women's basketball team is set to face the No.14-seeded Williams Baptist University (Ark.) in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament on Friday at 6 P.M. CT in Montgomery, Alabama, in the Tine Davis Gymnasium.
Lindsey Wilson sits at 21-8 on the season after falling in its last four games, including an early exit from the Mid-South Conference Tournament in a 59-47 loss to the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). Meadow Tisdale and Taylor Guess led the offensive brigade for LWU this season, averaging 15.8 points and 10.3 points, respectively.
On the year the Blue Raiders average 74.2 points a night on 43.3 percent shooting from the floor and 29.9 percent from behind the three-point line. Lindsey Wilson averages 38.6 rebounds a night, with 13.9 being offensive.
Williams Baptist holds a 24-5 record, falling to Columbia (Mo.) 86-58 in the American Midwest Conference Tournament Championship. Cha'Myrean Ellis, Joi Montgomery, Chelsea Hamilton, and Taylyn Davis all average double-figures in the scoring column this season with 19.6 points, 14.4 points, 13.8 points, and 11.0 points, respectively.
This season, the Lady Eagles average 84.2 points a night, shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from behind the arc. Williams Baptist averages 41.8 boards a night with 14.5 being offensive rebounds.
Friday's meeting marks the first between the two programs and the third consecutive appearance for Lindsey Wilson in the NAIA Tournament. Williams Baptist also tallies its third consecutive appearance.
