COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated No. 24 Cumberland (Tenn.) 7-0 in a Mid-South Conference matchup on Saturday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 9-2 and 4-0 in the MSC. Lindsey Wilson has now won its last seven matches.
Raul Safont and
Aldo Randazzo defeated Arne Sohmer and Arthur Fernandes 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. The Blue Raiders clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory from
Lev Sholosh and
Lucas Marques over Carlos Morillas and Mateus Mori at No. 1.
Miguel Mateo Larrea and
Facundo Grasso won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Sholosh gave the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead after winning the first set 6-1 over Morillas at No.1 singles before Morillas retired. Grasso pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles over Matheus Guarnieri. Safont clinched the victory for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Mohamed Bouhiel at No. 4 singles.
Larrea defeated Fernandez 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Marques and Jose David Tobar Sanchez picked up victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday, hosting No. 6 Cumberlands (Ky.) in a top 10 matchup at 1 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
