ELKHART, Ind. - Lindsey Wilson men's swimming broke one school record en route to an All-American finish on day one of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships on Wednesday.
After the 200 medley relay team of
Lorenz Hof,
Dan Spinola,
Jose Rivas, and
Max van Schagen placed 11th with a time of 1:32.69, the Blue Raiders closed the evening by earning eighth in the 800 freestyle relay.
The quartet of
Sergio Ybarra,
Ethan Butler, Rivas, and Hof clocked in a program-best mark of 6:46.69, besting the previous record set in 2020 by 0.49 seconds.
With two events in the books, Lindsey Wilson sits tied for 9th overall with Cumberlands (Ky.) with 34 team points, apiece.
Day two of the national championships begin with preliminary heats at 8 a.m. CT on Thursday, March 5, and include the 500 freestyle (Ybarra, Butler, and
Oliver Greaves), the 200 individual medley (
Adam Lamhiti and Rivas), the 50 freestyle (
Clinton Eales, van Schagen, and Hof), and the 200 freestyle relay.
