ELKHART, Ind. - A strong showing in the 500 freestyle highlighted day two of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships on Thursday for Lindsey Wilson men's swimming.
Sophomore
Sergio Ybarra and junior
Ethan Butler became the program's third and fourth swimmers all-time to earn All-American honors in the 500 freestyle, joining Calvin Coetzee and
Fabio Martin Rojo.
The duo placed fifth and seventh, respectively, at 4:29.59 and 4:34.07. Ybarra's performance is a personal-best, while Butler notched his quickest time of the season.
During the morning session,
Oliver Greaves clocked a personal-best mark of his own in the 500 freestyle preliminary round, hitting the wall at 4:37.48. Then, in the 200 individual medley,
Adam Lamhiti's time of 1:55.07 set a new personal mark for him.
The Blue Raiders sit tied with Aquinas (Mich.) for 10th overall in the team standings with 60 points.
Day three of the national championships begin with preliminary heats at 8 a.m. CT on Friday, March 6. Scheduled events include the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley (Greaves, Ybarra, and
Jose Rivas), 200 freestyle (
Lorenz Hof), 100 breaststroke (
Dan Spinola,
Clinton Eales, and
Adam Lamhiti) 100 backstroke, and the 400 medley relay.
