Archery Records Five Podium Finishes on Day Two of Outdoor Regionals; Eight Earn All-Region Honors

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson archery team totaled four podium finishes on the final day of USA Archery Outdoor Regionals on Friday at the UC All-Purpose Field.

With their five podium finishes on Friday, the Blue Raiders tallied 17 over the two days of competition.
 
Also taking place on Friday were the team and mixed team rounds of the Mid-South Conference Championships.
 
AJ Shagool earned gold in men's recurve. Shagool opened competition on Friday, defeating Cumberlands' (Ky.) Roman Carpenter 6-4. He and Carpenter were tied 4-4 going in the final end with Shagool coming away with the victory 25-16. Shagool punched his ticket to the finals with a 6-2 win over Pikeville's Jack Dinapoli. In the finals, he defeated teammate Mac Collins 6-0.
 
Emma Kist took gold in women's fixed pins. Kist defeated Midway's Hannah Marion 140-123 and Midway's Kelli Booth 136-135 in the quarterfinals. She advanced to the finals with a 139-136 victory over Cumberlands' Ayla Mills. Kist took gold with a 138-135 victory over Pikeville's Emma Willis.
 
Collins' day began with a 6-2 victory in the first round over Campbellsville's Alex Kingsbury. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Pikeville's Kole Whalen 7-1. Collins advanced to the finals with a 6-0 victory over Cumberlands' Keaton Starks.
 
Gus Burtts finished runner-up in men's fixed pins. Burtts defeated Midway's (Ky.) Phillip Thompson 140-132 in the second round. He advanced to the semifinals with a 145-136 victory over Pikeville's Caden Jones. Burtts won 141-139 over Cumberlands' Jackson Ratjczak in the semifinals. In the finals, he was defeated by Cumberlands' Aiden Woodie 145-132.
 
Keegan Benton earned bronze in men's barebow. Benton defeated Union Commonwealth's (Ky.) Thomas Ramsey 6-0 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he was defeated by Union Commonwealth's Kyle Coffey 6-0. Benton took bronze with a 6-4 victory over Cumberlands' Zach Matthews. Benton trailed  4-2 after end three before winning the final two.
 
Shagool, Collins, Micah Bettersworth, Bo Pipes, Benton, Anastacia Godman, Burtts, and Kist all earned All-Region team honors based on their performances at indoor nationals and outdoor regionals.
 
In the team rounds of the Mid-South Conference championship that were contested on Friday, Pipes, Keegan Crawford, and Cael Griffith finished third. The duo was defeated by Union Commonwealth 224-220 in the semifinals to earn bronze.
 
Benton, LaQuann Williams, and Jaiden Farley fell 6-0 in the finals of men's barebow team to Cumberlands to earn silver.
 
Shagool and Bettersworth took silver in mixed recurve. The duo defeated Cumberlands 6-2 in the semifinals before falling to Pikeville 6-0 in the finals. Pipes and Mikayla Cassady finished runner-up in mixed compound. They defeated Cumberlands 147-144 in the semifinals, before falling to Union Commonwealth 154-145 to earn silver.
 
Burtts and Kist finished third in mixed fixed pins. They were defeated by Pikeville 147-143 and defeated Midway 145-132 to earn bronze.
 
The Blue Raiders are back in action for the final day of the MSC Championships on Saturday morning.
