WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson archery team posted a second-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Archery Championship Saturday at the UC All-Purpose Field.
The Blue Raiders totaled 124 points to finish second. Lindsey Wilson earned 14 total medals with two gold, six silver, and six bronze. Cumberlands (Ky.) won the championship with 223 points.
Following the conclusion of the event, the MSC All-Conference teams and honors were announced.
Anastacia Godman was named the MSC Women's Co-Shooter of the Year along with Cumberlands' Hannah Summers. Godman earned First All-Conference honors, while
AJ Shagool and
Maria Sampson earned Second Team honors.
MaKenna Langley and
Bo Pipes were named to the MSC Champions of Character Team.
Shagool earned gold in men's recurve. He defeated Pikeville's Tate Jobe in the quarterfinals 6-0 and teammate
Mac Collins 6-0 in the semifinals. Shagool captured gold with a 6-2 victory over Cumberlands' Roman Carpenter.
Emma Kist finished runner-up in women's fixed pins. She defeated Union Commonwealth's (Ky.) Riley Allie Riddle 139-11 in the second round. Kist then won 142-135 over Langley in the quarterfinals. She punched her ticket to the finals with a 141-140 victory over Union Commonwealth's Riley Baker. Kist was defeated by Summers 141-137 to earn silver.
Godman earned bronze in women's barebow. She defeated Cumberlands' Sarah Eshman 6-0 in the second round. Godman advanced to the semifinals with a 7-1 win against Campbellsville's (Ky.) Tasia Rivera. She was defeated 6-2 by Cumberlands' Isabell Lehsten in the semifinals. Godman earned bronze with a 7-3 win over Sampson.
The Blue Raiders are back in action for the first day of the USA Archery Outdoor National Championship on May 14 in Lansing, Michigan.
