Five Blue Raiders Earn MSC Men’s Tennis All-Conference Honors; Three Earn Individual Awards

COLUMBIA, Ky. - Five Lindsey Wilson men's tennis student-athletes earned All Mid-South Conference honors, conference officials announced on Friday.
 
The Blue Raiders also took home three individual awards, with Lev Sholosh being named the MSC Player of the Year and Facundo Grasso earning Freshman of the Year honors. Lindsey Wilson Head Coach Eric Bernabeu was named the MSC Coach of the Year.
 
Sholosh becomes the 12th player in program history to be named the MSC Player of the Year. This marks the fifth straight season a Blue Raider has earned the Player of the Year honor. Against conference competition this season, Sholosh was a perfect 6-0 in singles at the top spot. Overall this season, he was 14-0 with 13 wins coming at No. 1 and one win coming at No. 2. Sholosh was 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with Grasso and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with Lucas Marques in MSC matches.
 
Grasso is the ninth player in program history to be named the MSC Freshman of the Year. This marks the third straight year a Blue Raider has earned the recognition. In his inaugural season, Grasso went 6-0 against MSC competition at No. 2 singles. Overall, he was 12-2 with all 12 of his wins coming at the No. 2 spot. Grasso also teamed up with Miguel Mateo Larrea going 2-0 in the MSC at No. 2 doubles.
 
Bernabeu earns Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year after leading the Blue Raiders to a perfect 6-0 record in the MSC and the program's 19th regular season championship. Lindsey Wilson enters postseason play with an 11-match winning streak and a 13-2 overall record.
 
Joining Grasso and Sholosh on the first team are Larrea and Raul Safont. Marques was named to the second team.
 
Larrea posted a 6-0 mark in conference matches, with all six victories coming at No. 3 singles. He also went 2-1 with Marques in conference matches at No. 2 doubles. Larrea is 13-1 overall this season in singles.
 
Playing at No. 4 singles, Safont went undefeated in conference play at 6-0. Overall, he posted a 12-1 record in the fourth spot. He went 3-0 in conference play with Aldo Randazzo at No. 3 doubles and 2-1 with Jose David Tobar Sanchez.
 
Marques posted a perfect 6-0 record at No. 5 singles against MSC opponents this season. Against all competition, he has a record of 10-2 with all 10 wins coming at No. 5.
 
The Blue Raiders open their postseason on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT in the semifinals of the MSC Tournament at the Warren County Tennis Facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
