MOBILE, Ala. – The seventh-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team was defeated by No. 2 seed Tennessee Wesleyan 4-1 in the NAIA Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders finish their season 16-3 and captured both the Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament titles.
David Leon and Serafin Zund defeated
Aldo Randazzo and
Raul Safont (No. 34-ranked doubles in NAIA) 6-2 in the third-seeded doubles match. The Bulldogs captured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory from Agustin Gaia and Mario Moncius over
Facundo Grasso and
Miguel Mateo Larrea at No. 2.
Larrea (No. 47) tied the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nicolas Cortes (No. 74) at No. 3 singles. Zund (No. 26) gave Tennessee Wesleyan a 2-1 lead with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory over Grasso in the second-seeded singles match. Asier Pascual (No. 70) pushed the Bulldog lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 lead at No. 5. David Leon clinched the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 win over Randazzo at No. 6.
