LANSING, Mich. -The Lindsey Wilson archery team closed out competition at USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals on Sunday at Hope Sports Complex with a pair of national championships.
The Blue Raiders tallied 67 points to finish in fourth. Texas A&M took home the national championship with a score of 171. Cumberlands (Ky.) finished runner-up with 103 points.
Keegan Benton captured a national championship in men's barebow. Benton defeated Ohio State's Jackson Fischer on Saturday, 6-0 in the second round. He then reached the quarterfinals with a 6-0 victory over Pikeville's Heath Dingus. Benton continued his run with a 7-1 victory over Bronson Ormes of Rio Grande. He punched his ticket to Sunday's finals with a 7-3 victory over Cumberlands' Chase White. Benton captured gold with a 6-0 victory over Texas A&M's Colton Converse.
Benton and
Anastacia Godman captured gold in mixed barebow team. After going 2-0 on Friday, the duo defeated Texas A&M 6-2 to win the national championship.
Godman earned a bronze medal in women's barebow on Saturday. In the second round, she defeated Huanyu Jin of Long Beach State 6-0 and Danica Wiseman of Union Commonwealth 6-0 in the third round. Godman advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-0 victory over California Davis's Samantha Yan. She then defeated Adelaide Lindner 6-0 in the quarterfinals. Godman was defeated in the semifinals 6-0 by Muskingum's Kelly Hawvermale. She earned bronze with a 6-2 victory over Cumberlands' Mikayla Clemons.
Emma Kist earned bronze in women's fixed pins on Saturday. Kist defeated Cammie Shuman of Cumberlands 139-136 in the second round, and Pikeville's Emma Willis 143-133 in round three. In the quarterfinals, she earned a victory over Texas A&M's Chaney Elliot before falling to Danielle Pollard 137-128 in the semifinals. Kist earned bronze with a 129-122 victory over Union Commonwealth's Riley Baker.
In the team rounds on Saturday, Godman,
Maria Sampson, and
Morgan Wilson finished runner-up in women's barebow. The trio defeated Pikeville 6-0 in the first round and Metropolitan State University of Denver 5-1 in the quarterfinals. They reached the gold medal match with a 6-2 victory over Texas A&M. They were defeated by Campbellsville 5-4 in the finals to finish runners-up.
Following the conclusion of Collegiate Target Nationals, USA Archery announced the All-American Teams. Scores at indoor and target nationals determine All-American teams.
Benton (men's barebow), Godman (women's barebow), and Kist (women's fixed pins) all earned All-American honors. Benton totaled a score of 16.906, Godman tallied a score of 15.047, while Kist had a score of 18.886.
