COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's track and field teams return to action on Saturday at the Lee Last Chance meet, hosted at the Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tennessee. The meet will serve as the final tune-up for the Blue Raiders ahead of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships later this month in Asheville, North Carolina.
Both teams enter the weekend following runner-up finishes at the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Parnell Family Stadium.
The Lindsey Wilson women were led by a standout performance from
Hannah Reid, who was named the MSC Women's Athlete of the Year following three conference championships. Reid captured titles in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash while also helping the Blue Raiders win the 4x400-meter relay alongside
Ta'shya Cramer,
Elaina Holliday, and
Sancia Smith.
Chenessa Davis also delivered a strong performance at the conference championships, winning the 100-meter hurdles with an NAIA A standard and school record time of 13.70.
Rosemond Owusu earned conference titles in both the high jump and triple jump, posting NAIA qualifying marks in both events.
The women's team also received conference championships from
Sancia Smith in the 800-meter run and
Reagan Cheatham in the hammer throw. Lindsey Wilson added an NAIA B standard in the 4x100-meter relay behind the group of
Jermani Morris, Reid, Holliday, and Davis.
On the men's side,
Maxwell Wordui highlighted the championships after winning the 100-meter dash in a school record-tying and NAIA A standard time of 10.28.
Cambell Rawlings also earned an A standard in the event after finishing runner-up.
Kai Avery earned conference titles in the 400-meter hurdles while also posting an NAIA B standard in the 110-meter hurdles.
Enric Fernandez added an All-Conference finish in the 400-meter hurdles, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Avery,
Miah Chatmond,
Demarcus Robertson, and
Jakoby Graves finished runner-up.
In the field events,
Janer Caicedo Campaz captured the conference championship in the high jump, leading a Blue Raider sweep of the top three spots.
Lorenzo Luces also won the triple jump with an NAIA B standard mark.
Saturday's competition gives Lindsey Wilson one final opportunity to improve qualifying marks and prepare for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships beginning May 20.
