GOSHEN, Ind. – Lindsey Wilson freshman Jordynn Sprague bested a field of 60 individual bowlers to win the season-opening Maple City Classic, hosted by Goshen College (Ind.), on Saturday.

The Louisville native finished team play with a three-game average of 188.3 and 565 total pins, edging the runner-up by 12 pins. She is the fourth different bowler in program history to win an individual title and the first since Anna Etherington on Feb. 2, 2020.

Sprague started team play strong with back-to-back single-pin spares before rolling four consecutive strikes en route to a high game of 204. She closed with games of 189 and 172 as Lindsey Wilson finished team play in fourth place.

The Blue Raiders totaled 2,300 pins through three team games and added 1,824 across 12 baker games to move into a two-way tie for third place. Lindsey Wilson's eighth baker game, a 191, was its best of the afternoon.

Caitlyn Nelson placed 14th overall with a three-game average of 161.0. Katelyn Lewis finished 23rd with a three-game average of 145.3.

Valeri Heil (151.5) and Savanna Merrifield (137.0) rolled two games apiece, while Shayla Bockelman (128) and Hope-Nicole Sands (113) each contributed one game.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the lanes Oct. 3-4 at the Midwest Collegiate Championships in Clinton Township, Michigan.
