Matt Wright begins his second season as the Blue Raiders offensive coordinator in 2023
Wright is familiar with the Lindsey Wilson football program after having been a part of the staff for three seasons from 2014-16 as an assistant coach. His primary role with the team then was working with the tight ends as well as the strength and conditioning coach and an assistant recruiting coordinator.
He helped guide the Blue Raiders to three consecutive trips to the NAIA Football Championship Series (2014, 2015, 2016) behind offenses that put up more than 40 points per game. Wright coached then tight end and now LWC football assistant coach Emilio Gonzalez to first-team all-conference honors twice.
Before coming to Lindsey Wilson, Wright spent time in the coaching ranks as an assistant with Madonna University, Canton High School, Capital University, and Austin Peay State University. He has been involved in coaching at the high school and collegiate level for nearly 15 years.
Last season, Wright served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Capital University. He has also served as the offensive coordinator at Madonna University helping guide the program in their first season of competition.
Wright is a graduate of Monmouth College in 2012 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education. During his playing days at Monmouth, he helped the team advance to the NCAA Division III playoffs three times and was named an honorable mention all-conference selection for his work on the offensive line.
