Lindsey Wilson University

Chris Butler begins his fourth season as head coach of the Lindsey Wilson men’s and women’s golf programs in 2026-27 after previously serving four seasons as an assistant coach.

In his first season as head coach, Butler guided the Blue Raider men to eight tournament victories, their first Mid-South Conference Tournament championship since 2015 and a second consecutive top-10 finish at the NAIA National Championships. On the women’s side, he led Lindsey Wilson to its first conference title since 2011 and a ninth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships. For his leadership, Butler was named the Mid-South Conference Head Coach of the Year for both men’s and women’s golf.

Butler continued the program’s success in his second season as the Blue Raiders once again swept the Mid-South Conference Tournament championships. The women went on to place ninth at the NAIA National Championships, while the men made history by capturing the 2025 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship. Following the historic season, Butler earned Mid-South Conference Men’s Golf Head Coach of the Year honors and was named the GCAA NAIA Dave Williams National Coach of the Year.

During his tenure, Butler has mentored four Mid-South Conference Freshmen of the Year, three Mid-South Conference Golfers of the Year, the 2024-25 WGCA NAIA Golfer of the Year and 11 NAIA All-Americans. He is also a two-time GCAA NAIA PING Region Coach of the Year.

In his final season as an assistant coach, Butler helped guide the Lindsey Wilson men to a fourth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships, while the women’s program recorded two tournament victories. He was named the 2022 Mid-South Conference Men's & Women’s Golf Assistant Coach of the Year.

Before joining the coaching staff, Butler competed for Lindsey Wilson from 2012-16. During his career as a Blue Raider, he recorded two individual victories and 10 top-five finishes. He earned All-Mid-South Conference honors twice and was named the Mid-South Conference Men’s Golfer of the Year in 2015.

Butler and his wife, Lindsay, reside in Columbia with their two daughters.
