Chris Butler was elevated to the helm of the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's golf programs in the summer of 2023. He will begin his third year as the Blue Raiders’ head coach in 2025-26.

He previously served as an assistant coach for both teams over the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, as well as the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, and was voted the Mid-South Conference's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2022.

During his first season as head coach, Butler helped guide the Blue Raider men’s program to eight tournament wins, its first Mid-South Tournament championship since 2015, and a second consecutive top-10 finish at the NAIA National Championships. He also led the women to their first conference title since 2011 and a ninth-place effort at the national tournament. For his leadership, Butler was named the Mid-South Conference Head Coach of the Year on both the men’s and women’s sides.

His second season witnessed the men's and women's program, once again, sweep the conference tournament titles. The women went on to place ninth at the NAIA National Championships, while the men made history by capturing the 2025 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship! Butler collected Mid-South men's Head Coach of the Year honors, as well as the GCAA NAIA Dave Williams National Coach of the Year award.

Butler has mentored three Mid-South Freshmen of the Year, two Mid-South Golfers of the Year, the 2024-25 WGCA NAIA Golfer of the Year, and nine NAIA All-Americans.

While in his final year as the assistant coach, Butler helped the Lindsey Wilson men to a fourth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships, while the women's team garnered two tournament wins. 

Butler played golf for Lindsey Wilson from 2012-16 as a student-athlete. He recorded a pair of wins, 10 top-five finishes during his career, earned All-Mid-South status twice, and was named the conference's Men's Golfer of the Year in 2015. 

Chris and his wife, Lindsay, reside in Columbia with their two daughters.
