MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's cross country teams finished 15th and 12th in the Southeast Classic on Saturday at the Clara Bowl on the campus of Berry College.

Sammy Maiyo led the Blue Raider men, while sophomore Kamila Bocian led the women against one of the top fields of the season.
The Lindsey Wilson men scored 427 points en route to their 14th place finish in the field of 27 teams, including four of the top-20 teams in the NAIA.
Maiyo's time of 26 minutes and 11 seconds over the 8,000-meter course earned him a 20th place finish in a field of 228 runners. Maiyo's time and finish was the best of any Mid-South Conference harrier in the field. University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) (9th place), Campbellsville (Ky.) University (15th) and Georgetown (Ky.) College (20th) also participated in the event.

Koji Hashiyama turned in the next best time for the Blue Raiders. Hashiyama finished 57th with a time of 27:31. Freshman
Caleb Lafond (29:20) and sophomore
Greg Zadina (31:10) finished 117th and 160th respectively. Freshmen
Rex Booth (31:39, 172th) and
Micah Hundley (31:51, 177th) rounds out the Blue Raider harriers.
No. 2-ranked Virginia Intermont College won the team event with 38 points, including placing four runners in the top-10. The Atlanta Track Club's Jay Stephenson won the race with a time of 24:28.
The Lindsey Wilson women finished 12th in the 29-team field with 344 points. Four teams ranked in the NAIA top-25 and another receiving votes participated in the Southeast Classic.
Bocian's time of 19:28 led the Blue Raider women, earning her 27th place in the field of 230 harriers.
Freshman Marie Coyon followed Bocian with a time of 20:20, good enough for 52nd place. Freshman Cassie Niersel finished just six second behind Coyon in 57th place, while junior Meagan Crouse finished 103rd with a time of 21:35. Sophomore Amber Cannon rounds out the Blue Raiders with a 147th place finish with a time of 23:12.
No. 4-ranked Cedarville (Ohio) University won the team event with 63 points. Savannah College Art & Design's Hilary White won the race with a time of 17:41.
The Lindsey Wilson College men and women return to action on Saturday, November 5, as the Blue Raiders run in the Mid-South Conference / NAIA Region XI Championships at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville.
