LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's cross country team finished second in the NAIA Region XI Championships today while the women finished fourth at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

The men's team tallied 66 points, finishing second behind University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) who won the seven-team event with 36 points.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Sammy Maiyo earned second place in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26:14. Mayio's time earns him one of the individual spots at the NAIA National Meet on November 16.

Cumberlands' Josh Laughlin was the regional champion with a time of 26:08 in the 57-runner field.

Freshman Koji Hashiyama (27:12) and sophomore Emmanuel Isanda (27:32) earned all-region honors with finishes of seventh and tenth, respectively. Hashiyama will join Maiyo at the national meet.

Rounding out the Lindsey Wilson scoring was freshman Caleb LaFond (28:54) in 17th and sophomore Greg Zadina (30:43) in 30th place.

The Lindsey Wilson women finished fourth place out of six teams in the 5,000-meter course with 96 points. University of the Cumberlands also won the women's meet with a score of 39 points.

Blue Raider sophomore Kamila Bocian paced the women with a fifth place finish in a time of 19:46. Bocian's time was good enough to earn one the at-large spots for the national meet.

Freshman Cassie Niersel (21:02) was 17th, junior Meagan Crouse (21:15) finished 21st, and freshman Marie Coyon (21:25) was 22nd.

Sophomore Amber Cannon finished the Blue Raider scoring with a 37th place finish in a time of 24:39.

Cumberlands' Kelly Schnee won the 43-runner race at 19:00.
