COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team used a 17-4 run to begin the second half en route to a 77-56 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) University Wednesday night at Biggers Sports Center.

In the first six minutes of the second half, the Blue Raiders pushed their five point halftime lead (32-27) to 49-31.
The No. 10-ranked Blue Raiders led by as many as 23 points late in the game on their way to the 77-56 victory.

Lindsey Wilson (8-1) jumped out to an 18-6 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. Cumberland answered with a 16-4 run over the next eight minutes of play to tie the score at 22-22.

Blue Raider senior guard Scott Cook scored on a lay-up with 5:06 left in the half to give the Blue Raiders a 24-22 lead that they did not relinquish. Cook led all players with 22 points and six assists and was five-for-six from three-point land.

Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Lloyd Lewis added his sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson senior forward Stephen Russell contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the win.

The Blue Raiders outrebounded Cumberland (2-8) by a 41-21 margin. Lindsey Wilson grabbed 24 offensive rebounds which led to 27 second chance points.

Cumberland was led in scoring by Ponce Palmer with 21 points. Janis Ivanovskis scored 20 points on eight-of-nine shooting.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, December 9, as the Blue Raiders face Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University in the Lou Cunningham Classic at Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
