PINEVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team finished fourth at the NAIA Region XI Championships held at Wasioto Winds Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The No. 16-ranked Blue Raiders shot a three-round total of 936 (316-315-305) over the 7,037 yard, par 72 Wasioto Winds course.
Cumberland (Tenn.) University won the championship with an 892 (293-300-299) to claim the automatic bid into the NAIA National Championships to be played May 24-27 at Prairie Highlands Golf Course in Olathe, Kansas.
Cumberland (Ky.) College finished second with a team total of 915 (298-312-305), while Campbellsville (Ky.) University finished third with a 930 (306-309-315).
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Zach Wilson led the Blue Raiders with a three-round total of 234 (78-75-79). Wilson finished 14th of the 50 golfers that competed in the championships.
Juniors
Federico Lizarralde (80-81-75) and
Bill Dukes (78-79-79) tied for 17th with three-round totals of 236. Sophomore
Kyle Andreas finished tied for 22nd with a 237 (82-80-75), while junior
Tyler Sharpe finished tied for 25th with a 238 (82-80-76).
Lindsey Wilson must now wait to see if it will receive one of the at-large bids. The field will be announced on May 12.
