DANVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College cross country teams opened the 2005 season with a third and fifth place finish at the Centre (Ky.) College Invitational on Saturday.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Kamila Bocian led the Blue Raider women with a sixth place finish. Bocian ran the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes and 43 seconds. Lindsey Wilson freshman Cassie Niersel recorded a top-10 in her first collegiate race. Niersel finished eighth with a time of 21:22.
Center's Lauren Arnold won the event with a time of 18:40.

The Blue Raider women scored 89 points en route to a third place finish. Centre won the team event with 34 points.

Blue Raider freshman Sammy Maiyo led the men with a time of 26:13. Maiyo's time was good enough for a 18th place finish. Lindsey Wilson freshman Micah Hundley finished 47th over the 8,000-meter course with a time of 32:56.

Stuart Morgan won the event as an unattached runner with a time of 26:13.

Lindsey Wilson men scored 140 points for a fifth place finish. Center won the men's team event with 18 points.

The Lindsey Wilson harriers return to action on Saturday, September 17, as they travel to the Berea (Ky.) College Invitational.
