LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic over the weekend at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
The Lindsey Wilson women finished fifth of 14 teams that participated in women's race number two of the event. The Lindsey Wilson men finished 10th of 16 teams in the men's race number two.
In the women's race, sophomore Kamila Bocian continued her strong season with a fourth place finish. Bocian's time of 20 minutes and 11 seconds over the 5,000 meter course earned her a third consecutive top-10 finish.
The Blue Raiders scored a team-total of 137 points for the fifth place finish. Bethel (Ind.) College won the race with 43 points after placing four runners in the top-10.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Cassie Niersel finished just outside the top-10 with a 13th place finish out of the 111 women to finish the race. Niersel finished with a time of 21:11. Fellow freshman Marie Coyon finished 17th with a time of 21:22 to give the Blue Raiders three in the top-20.
Lindsey Wilson junior Meagan Crouse's 23:11 (48th) and sophomore Amber Cannon's 25:41 (82nd) rounds out the Blue Raider team.
Pikeville (Ky.) College senior Anne Chepyator won the race with a time of 19:26.
On the men's side, freshman
Sammy Maiyo record his second consecutive second place finish of the season. Maiyo ran the 8,000 meter course in 27:04.
Maiyo's performance helped the Blue Raiders to a 10th place finish with 246 team-points. Aquinas (Mich.) College won the men's event with 55 team-points.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore
Emmanuel Isanda was the second Blue Raider to cross the line, as he finished with a time of 27:51, good enough for 18th.

Rex Booth's 33:14 (116th), freshman
Micah Hundley's 33:31 (119th) and sophomore
Greg Zadina's 34:38 (133rd) rounds out the Blue Raider finishers.
Eastern Illinois University sophomore Kai Karlstrom won the event with a time of 26:42.
Lindsey Wilson cross country returns to action on October 14, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Wilmington Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington (Ohio) College.
