COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team out-fought Pikeville (Ky.) College 71-59 on Saturday night at Biggers Sports Center.
Despite Pikeville's advantage at the free-throw line (the Bears shot 16 more free throws), LWC outshot the Bears from the field and outrebounded them.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson (16-5) improves to 2-1 in the Mid-South Conference.
The two teams combined for 55 fouls (Lindsey Wilson with 30, Pikeville 25). The Bears (8-15 overall and 0-3 in MSC) shot 24-for-38 (63.2-percent) from the foul line while the Blue Raiders connected on 19-of-22 (86.4-percent) from the charity stripe.
Lindsey Wilson used a late 13-2 run in the first half to break open a close game and take a 32-23 halftime lead.
Pikeville cut the lead to five points on four occasions in the second half, but the Bears couldn't get closer. The Blue Raiders' largest lead of the game was 13 points (67-54) with 2:40 remaining.

Lloyd Lewis finished with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds.
Joining Lewis in double figures were junior guard
John Fitzgerald with 14 points and senior guard
Scott Cook with 11 points and eight assists.
Pikeville was led by center Chris Carroll's 14 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Monday, January 30, as the Blue Raiders travel to Lebanon, Tennessee and play Cumberland University in a non-conference game.
