GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team advanced to the Mid-South Conference Tournament finals with an 8-0 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) University tonight at Georgetown (Ky.) College Soccer Field.
The top-seeded Blue Raiders face No. 2-seed University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday.
Seven different Blue Raiders scored a goal led by Lindsey Wilson senior Tiyiselani Shipalane's two goals.
Freshman Jakob Rittig scored the game's first goal in the 23rd minute from just in front of the net to give Lindsey Wilson the 1-0 lead.
After junior Nathaniel Jafta's shot hit the crossbar, Rittig claimed the rebound and headed his own shot off the crossbar. The ricochet off the crossbar bounded back onto Rittig's head and the Arhuss, Denmark, native, didn't miss the second time placing the header into the lower left corner of the net.
Eight minutes later senior Adam Howard headed in a goal off a Rittig assist to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. Shipalane scored the game's next goal at the 36:10 mark on a breakaway goal and freshman Zetroy Robertson closed the half with a goal from 35 yards out to end the half at 4-0.
Shipalane opened the second half scoring in the 70th minute with a penalty kick to give Lindsey Wilson the 5-0 lead.
Freshmen Ed Chemlal and Anthony Bahadar scored the Blue Raiders' next two goals in the 84th and 88th minute. The goals were Chemlal and Bahadar's first goals of the season.
Freshman Ryan Parker ended the scoring with 38 seconds remaining off freshman Turlien Romulus' assist for the 8-0 win.
The NAIA's No. 2-ranked Blue Raiders (16-1-0) out-shot Campbellsville (9-11-0) 19-3, including 15-2 in shots on-goal.
