Blue Raiders Suffer 2nd-Half Drought, Season Ends with 67-54 Loss to Georgetown

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team went scoreless for 7:33 midway in the second half and fell 67-54 to Georgetown (Ky.) College in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals tonight at the Frankfort Civic Center.

While the Blue Raiders were in a drought, the top-seeded Tigers (28-3) scored 18 points to turn a five-point deficit into a 13-point lead.
The No. 4-seed Blue Raiders (19-12) led at the break 33-32 and used an early second-half spurt to lead 39-34 with 16:57 left in the game.

Then the drought hit.

Over the next 7:33 -- which included 13 Lindsey Wilson possessions -- the Blue Raiders missed six field goals, a front end of the bonus and committed six turnovers.

At the end of the run, Georgetown led 52-39.

The Blue Raiders cut the Tiger lead to eight (52-44) with five straight points, but Georgetown regained momentum and pushed the lead to 60-46 at the 5:01 mark.

Lindsey Wilson would not recover and fall to the Tigers for the third time this season.

In addition to ending Lindsey Wilson's season, the loss also ends the Blue Raiders' four-year streak of NAIA National Tournament appearances.

Georgetown advances to Sunday's championship game against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), who beat Campbellsville (Ky.) University 68-67 in the other semifinal.

The Blue Raiders shot 39.6 percent (21-of-53) from the floor, including 5-of-15 (33.3 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.

Georgetown countered with 41.8 percent (23-of-55) and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) from three-point range.

Lindsey Wilson junior Lloyd Lewis led the Blue Raiders with 11 points. Seniors John Fitzgerald and Anthony Labka -- playing in their final collegiate game -- contributed 10 points each in the loss.

Georgetown senior Brian Silverhorn led the Tigers with six rebounds and a game-high 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Junior Chris Lee contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.
