LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's cross country team competed at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday at E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
The Blue Raiders finished 14th in the 28-team field with 382 points in the Blue Division of the event. University of Southern Indiana won the event with 106 points.
Lindsey Wilson junior Monicah Maiyo led the Blue Raiders with a 34th place finish in the 205-woman field. Maiyo ran the 5,000 meters in 20 minutes and 28.83 seconds.
Senior Cassie Niersel finished 37th with a time of 20:35, while junior Amanda Johnson ended in 86th with a 21:35. Freshman Alicia Mattingly finished 120th with a time of 22:31 and sophomore Nicole Furnish ended with a time of 23:39 and a 147th place finish. Sophomore Candace Young (24:53) rounded out the Blue Raider runners with a 169th place finish.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday, October 17, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Wilmington (Ohio) College Invitational.
