COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's basketball teams suffered a sweep at the hands of visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College today at Biggers Sports Center.
In the opener, Georgetown (20-9, 7-3 in the Mid-South Conference) women shot 56.3 percent from the field to beat the Blue Raiders (20-10, 8-2) 89-77.
Despite the loss, Lindsey Wilson claims a share of the MSC regular season title with the University of the Cumberlands. The Blue Raiders will be the top-seed in next week's MSC Tournament at the Expo Center in Pikeville, Ky.
Georgetown senior Kim Ingle led three Lady Tigers with 35 points on 15-of-27 shooting. Senior center Amy Schiller added 16 points while junior guard Jayme Gilbert chipped in 15 in the win.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Viktoria Krell led the Blue Raiders with 27 points on 13-of-17 shooting. Senior forward Moneta Anderson added 15 and senior guard Krystal Jackson finished with 12.
In the nightcap, the Tigers (30-0, 10-0) capped a perfect regular season with an 89-77 win over the home-standing Blue Raiders.
Georgetown shot 60.4 percent (29-of-48) of its shots to fight off a game Blue Raider team.
Tiger senior Gordon Chase led Georgetown with 18 points while junior guard Jerry Turner added 15.
Lindsey Wilson senior Donte' Williams tied his career-high with 22 points. Senior center Sean Jackson added a career-high 12 points.
The Blue Raider men will be the No. 5-seed in the MSC Tournament next week and will play host and No. 4-seed Pikeville (Ky.) College on Saturday. Game time will be determined early next week.
