LONDON, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team opened their fall season with a second place finish today at the Bill Sergent Invitational hosted by University of the Cumberlands at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
The Blue Raiders shot a two-day team total of 591 (297-294) to finish eight strokes behind team champion Lee (Tenn.) University (294-289).
Campbellsville (Ky.) University finished third with a 602 (307-295) and host Cumberlands (309-301) and Spalding (Ky.) University (308-302) tied for fourth with 610s.
Lindsey Wilson senior Abraham Gali led the Blue Raiders with a fourth place finish. Gali shot a two-day total of two-over par 146 (73-73) over the 6,933 yard, par 72 layout. With his finish, Gali earned a spot on the six-man all-tournament team.
Lee's Sam Bedwell captured medalist honors with a two-under par 142 (70-72).
Lindsey Wilson senior Carlos Navarro (74-75) and freshman Nicolas Navarro (75-74) tied for ninth with 149s. Sophomore Joe Hood finished tied for 14th with a 151 (79-72) and junior Travis Radford ended tied for 20th with a 152 (75-77).
The Blue Raiders return to action on Monday, Sept. 15, as Lindsey Wilson hosts the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at Dale Hollow State Park Golf Course in Burkesville, Ky.
