Lindsey Wilson Survives Campbellsville, Earns Sweep with 64-60 Win in Overtime

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Third-seeded Lindsey Wilson College avoided sixth-seeded Campbellsville University's upset bid with a 64-60 overtime win on Friday in the opening game of the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament at the Frankfort Civic Center.

The Blue Raiders (23-7) advance to face No. 2-seed University of the Cumberlands in Saturday's first semifinal. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Cumberlands swept Lindsey Wilson during the regular season.

Campbellsville senior Hristo Petkov scored the overtime's first point as he made one of two from the free throw line to give the Tigers a 55-54 lead. It was the last lead for the Tigers (10-19) in a game that featured seven ties and eight lead changes.

The Blue Raiders methodically built a five point (62-57) in the overtime before Campbellsville freshman Justin Vitatoe banked in a three-pointer to cut the lead to two with 1.5 seconds left. Lindsey Wilson junior Eric McPherson sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 0.1 showing on the clock to give the Blue Raiders the 64-60 win.

The win completes the season sweep of the Tigers. Lindsey Wilson won all three meetings this season.

McPherson proved why he was selected as an all-conference performer recording his fifth double-double of the season with 32 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Blue Raiders. Six of McPherson's points came in the extra frame as he matched the Tigers production. Lindsey Wilson out-scored the Campbellsville 10-6 in the overtime.

Lindsey Wilson limited the conference leader in three-point baskets (7.7 threes per game) to just 5-for-22 from beyond the three-point line. Campbellsville shot 29.8 percent (17-of-57) from the field for the game. Lindsey Wilson finished the night making 45.3 percent (24-of-53) of its shots.

Lindsey Wilson junior Andrija Tintor joined McPherson in double figures with 14 points.

Campbellsville senior Zach Allender finished the night with a team-high 25 points. Petkov added 13 and sophomore Shawn Savage ended with 10.
