Men's Soccer Stymies Campbellsville 5-0

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College freshman forward Chris Ochieng scored two first-half goals to lead the fourth ranked Blue Raiders past Campbellsville (Ky.) University 5-0 Tuesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

Ochieng scored his third and fourth goals of the season in the 17th and 24th minutes. Seniors Luis Campo and Shaun Francis and freshman Mat Luak also scored goals for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson first got on the board with Ochieng's two scores. Francis set up Ochieng for his first goal, while sophomore forward Moses Aduny was credited for the assist on the second.

Also scoring in the first half for the Blue Raiders was Luak in the 45th minute with just over 30 seconds to play. The game's high scorer, Ochieng, dished out the assist on the play.

Offense was hard to come by for Campbellsville in the first period as they were limited to just one shot. Lindsey Wilson, however, took eight shots in the opening half.

The second half was uneventful for much of the first 35 minutes until Francis broke free for an unassisted goal from deep outside the box in the 81st minute. Lindsey Wilson scored again with under one minute left in a half as Campo headed in a score off an assist from Francis with 58 seconds on the clock.

The Blue Raiders assaulted the Tigers' goal with 16 shots in the game with 14 on goal. Campbellsville was rarely in position to shoot the entire game, only being able to take one shot each half, both on goal.

Blue Raider freshman keeper Callum Christie was credited with a save on both Tiger shots, while Campbellsville goalkeeper James Clements collected nine saves on the night.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 5-1-0 and 2-0-0 in the Mid-South Conference with the shutout win.

The Blue Raiders next action is on the road at 2 p.m. CT on Oct. 3 against Auburn (Ala.) University Montgomery. Lindsey Wilson returns home at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7 to face conference-foe University (Ky.) of the Cumberlands.
