Men's Basketball Falls to Sixth Ranked Pikeville 78-64

Box Score

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The sixth ranked Pikeville (Ky.) College men's basketball team started the game on a 9-0 run and Lindsey Wilson College never recovered as the Bears cruised to a 78-64 win on Saturday.

Lindsey Wilson (11-8, 1-1 MSC) was led by reserve Jeremiah Diebler came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. Kalen Kimberland added 12 points and Eric McPherson tallied 10.

Pikeville (13-2, 1-1 MSC) got a huge scoring night from Jonathan Clark with a career high 24 points. Trevor Setty was dangerous as well with 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.

The Blue Raiders struggled to get into any offensive rhythm in the first half as an aggressive Pikeville defense caused them to start their offensive sets far out on the court and gave little breathing room for an uncontested shot.

Pikeville entered halftime with a 17-point lead and Lindsey Wilson never got closer than 13 the rest of the way.

The Blue Raiders finished the game shooting 38.9 percent from the field, while Pikeville hit at a 50 percent clip. Both teams shot well from the free-throw line with Pikeville holding the slight edge at 81.8 percent compared to 80 percent for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8 p.m. CT on Jan. 21 against Campbellsville (Ky.) University at Biggers Sports Center.
