RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer advanced to the Mid-South Conference Tournament finals with a 2-0 win over University of the Cumberlands tonight at Evan Davis Field.
Lindsey Wilson faces the winner of tonight's second semifinal -- top-seed University of Rio Grande or No. 4-seed Campbellsville University -- at 6:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, Nov. 11.
The No. 2-seed Blue Raiders scored late in the first half and early in the second half en route to the win.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore forward Lwandiso Gonya scored for the eighth time this season in the 43rd minute off junior Moses Aduny's assist to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson led 1-0 at the break.
Three minutes into the second half, sophomore Joe Tait scored an unassisted goal to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders dominated play -- out-shooting the Patriots 14-4, including 9-1 in the second stanza. Lindsey Wilson missed a number of chances to add to its lead late in the second half, but eventually settled for the 2-0 win.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore goalkeeper Greg Hartley recorded his third straight shutout while collecting four saves. Hartley extended his personal scoreless streak to 405 minutes. He has not allowed a goal since Sept. 18 against William Carey University.
Cumberlands' goalkeeper Dennis Kramer allowed both Lindsey Wilson goals while recording two saves.
The Blue Raiders won its 25th straight MSC Tournament game dating back to the 2000 season when Lindsey Wilson joined the conference. Lindsey Wilson has never lost a MSC Tournament game.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6:30 p.m. CT on Thursday in the MSC Tournament finals.
