BEREA, Ky. -- Darrin Dorsey tallied a game-high 30 points and Rudy Evans added 19 to push Berea (Ky.) College past Lindsey Wilson College 70-68 in overtime on Tuesday.
Chase Spreen led Lindsey Wilson with 17 points on 4-for-7 shooting from three-point range and Cornell Thomas muscled his way to 14 points and six rebounds in the post.
Aside from Spreen's hot hand, the rest of the Blue Raiders struggled from the field as they put together a 39.3 percent effort and 27.3 percent showing on threes. The Blue Raider did hit 14-of-18 free throws.
The poor shooting night eliminated any advantage the team's 46-28 rebounding advantage produced as Berea had the upper hand, shooting 46 percent from the field and 44 percent from the 3-point line.
Leading 33-27 at the break, Lindsey Wilson allowed Berea to claw back, eventually taking a 60-58 lead with eight seconds to play before the Blue Raider's Charles Baker sank a shot to put the game into overtime.
The extra frame was just as tight as regulation with Berea outscoring Lindsey Wilson 10-8 to come away with the two-point win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 19 against Cumberland (Tenn.) University on the first day of the Lindsey Wilson Classic at Biggers Sports Center. Campbellsville (Ky.) University and Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University open the classic at 6 p.m.
