Football Falls 48-0 to Georgetown

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Dreams of winning a share of the Mid-South Conference Eastern Division title in its inaugural season ended today for the Lindsey Wilson College football team as they suffered a 48-0 loss to Georgetown College at Blue Raider Stadium.

Lindsey Wilson (4-6, 3-2 in the MSC East) entered today's game with a chance to tie the No. 19-ranked Tigers (7-2, 6-0) in the loss column with one game remaining on the schedule.

But Georgetown proved to be the veteran team, scoring on five of their first six drives en route to a 31-0 halftime lead. Lindsey Wilson never recovered dropping its home finale to finish 3-3 this season at Blue Raider Stadium.

A balanced Tiger attack -- 173 yards rushing and 247 yards passing -- kept the Blue Raiders on their heels most of the afternoon. Georgetown quarterback Kaelin Ammons threw for 195 yards and a touchdown while running back Bennett Gatto rushed for 44 yards and two scores.

While the Georgetown offense proved to be efficient, the Blue Raiders were never able to sustain any positive momentum moving the ball. Lindsey Wilson managed just 218 yards of total offense and committed three turnovers. A fourth turnover came on a muffed punt as the Blue Raiders lost the turnover battle 4-0.

Lindsey Wilson freshman quarterback Ricky Bowling concluded the day with 150 yards on 16-of-32 passing and an interception toss in the endzone. Sophomore DeMichael Wallace led the ground attack with 35 yards rushing.

With its win, Georgetown captures the East title for the first time since the 2006 season.

Lindsey Wilson concludes the 2010 season on Saturday, Nov. 13, as the Blue Raiders travel to University of Virginia's College at Wise. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. CT.
