COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Kalen Kimberland was the only player to get into double figures with 13 points as no other scorers emerged in the 15th ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team's 73-55 loss to University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.
The Patriots got big scoring nights from Jared Cunningham with 18 and Matt Daniel and Tanner Jacobs with 16 points each. Jacobs finished with a team-high 12 rebounds and Cunningham hauled in 10 for a pair of double-doubles.
Cumberlands (5-5, 2-1 MSC) outrebounded the Blue Raiders 40-37 and outshot them from the field 47.8 percent to 32.2 percent. Lindsey Wilson (8-2, 2-1 MSC) did knock down six three pointers, while Cumberlands hit just three.
Senior Jeremiah Diebler added nine points for Lindsey Wilson and junior Chase Spreen and Senior Brandon Clemons each scored eight.
Lindsey Wilson led 9-8 with eight minutes to play in the first half, but a basket by Jacobs put Cumberlands in front a minute later and the Blue Raiders never recovered.
The Patriots outscored Lindsey Wilson 18-8 the rest of the half to enter halftime with an 11-point lead.
The first 10 minutes of the second half belonged to the Patriots, outscoring Lindsey Wilson 21-6 to mount a 26-point lead - their largest of the game.
The Blue Raiders tried to rally late in the game, but never got closer than 15 points on a pair of free throws by Diebler.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Dec. 14 against Brescia (Ky.) University at Biggers Sports Center.
