COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Turrell Morris' one-man show of 27 points and six rebounds wasn't enough to get the job done as the Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team outlasted Union (Ky.) College 81-73 on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.
Sophomore Kalen Kimberland - held under double figures scoring the past three games - lit up the nets for 21 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field to lead the Blue Raiders. Kimberland hit both of his 3-point attempts, while junior Justin Archie added 14 points and senior Jeremiah Diebler chipped in 11.
Sophomore Ian Davis was the only other Bulldog to reach double figures with 10 points, four steals and three rebounds before fouling out late in the second half.
There were a total of 47 fouls called with both teams combining to shoot 56 free throws. Lindsey Wilson spent the most time at the strip, knocking down 29-of-38 attempts for 76.3 percent.
Union finished the game shooting 49.1 percent from the field, while Lindsey Wilson hit 45.1 percent from the field.
The Blue Raiders trailed Union at halftime 36-32 after six lead changes and one tie. The start of the second half belonged to the Bulldogs as they pushed out to a 10-point lead on a basket by Morris with 16 minutes to play.
Lindsey Wilson chipped away at the lead over the next five minutes before a 3-pointer by Diebler put it in front again 52-51. Then the Blue Raiders flipped the script of the game, taking their own double-digit lead of 11 points on a shot by Archie in the paint to put Union Away.
The closest the Bulldogs could get was five points with under a minute to play, but Lindsey Wilson continued to answer their rally.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8 p.m. CT on Jan. 6 against Mid-South Conference foe West Virginia Tech at Biggers Sports Center.
