BURKESVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team's comeback attempt fell just shy at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at Dale Hollow State Park on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders shot a team-total 284 in today's final round to slice five strokes off Monday's opening round deficit. But it wasn't enough as the University of the Cumberlands captured the first MSC event of the season with a two-day total of 578 (289-289).

Lindsey Wilson finished second in the event with a 582 (298-284). Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University (600) and Campbellsville (Ky.) University (602) finished third and fourth respectively.

Lindsey Wilson senior Joe Hood and junior Chris Lewis paced the Blue Raiders on Tuesday as each fired a three-under par 69. But the duo's heroics were stymied by Cumberlands' Pierre Carlsson -- who put an exclamation point on the tournament with today's six-under par 66. Carlsson earned medalist honors with a two-day total of 137 (71-66).

Hood (75-69) and sophomore Antonio Arriola (70-74) finished tied for fourth -- earning all-tournament honors -- with 144s. Lewis finished tied for seventh with a 145 (76-69).

Sophomore Daron Morris (149) and junior Nicolas Navarro (155) ended in a tie for 14th and 26th respectively.

Trevecca Nazarene's Joey Bradley's 140 (70-70) earned him runner-up honors and a place on the all-tournament team. Georgetown (Ky.) College's Christian Heavens also made the all-tournament team with a 142 (73-69).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sept. 27-28 at the Don Bishop Invitational at Campbellsville Country Club.
