COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Four different Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer players scored goals in the second half to lead the 12th ranked Blue Raiders to a 4-1 win against Campbellsville (Ky) University on Wednesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Tigers jumped ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute on a deep goal by Ramiro Sanchez. Sanchez delivered the shot from nearly 35 yards out, curling the ball into the top-right corner of the goal, just out of reach of Lindsey Wilson keeper Greg Hartley.
Campbellsville held its 1-0 lead the entire first half despite being outshot by Lindsey Wilson 17-3.
Luckily for the Blue Raiders, it took Chris Williams under a minute in the second half to score the equalizer. Joe Tait delivered a cross to Williams in the middle of the box that he delivered into the back of the net past Tiger keeper James Clements.
The next two Blue Raiders goals came off of penalty kicks after Campbellsville committed a pair of fouls in the box.
Moses Aduny connected on the game winner in the 57th minute, followed by another penalty opportunity by Joe Tait in the 79th minute to make the score 3-1 with just 11 minutes to play in the game.
Carnell Learmond added to the Lindsey Wilson advantage in the 83rd minute to put the Blue Raiders up by three scores with a goal off an assist by Sicelo Buthelezi.
For the game, Lindsey Wilson held the advantage in shots 32-4 and in corner-kick chances 8-2.
Hartley finished the game without having to make a save, allowing just the one first-half goal while Clements hauled in five saves.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 against William Carey (Miss.) University in Decatur, Ala.
