COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The 11th ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team won its fourth game in a row by recording its third shutout of the season in a 2-0 win against the University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday in Mid-South Conference action at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Senior goalkeeper Pedro Caetano was credited with the shutout, playing all 90 minutes in just second start of the season. Caetano recorded three saves in the game, including getting a hand on a late penalty kick in the 85th minute to secure the shutout win.
Lindsey Wilson (7-1-1, 3-0-0 MSC) scored a goal in both the first and second halves. Senior Carnell Learmond came roaring through the box in the 40th minute to take a cross from sophomore Lebogang Moloto and smash the shot into the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.
Then Orrin Farrell made it a two-goal deficit in the 47th minute on a towering shot from nearly 35 yards out that made it over the outstretched hands of Patriot keeper Dennis Kramer.
Kramer finished the game matching Caetano with three saves, however he also accounted for both goals against playing all 90 minutes.
The Blue Raiders held the advantage in shots 14-8, while Cumberlands (5-1-3, 1-1-0 MSC) edged Lindsey Wilson in corner kicks 6-5.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Oct. 1 at the West Virginia Institute of Technology.
